Guwahati: Assam's designer Sanjukta Dutta's mekhela chador collection got showcased at FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week. The beautiful designs of Dutta's mekhela chador collection is remarkable in today's fashion industry.

In the recent show, Dutta's new collection "ChikiMiki" got showcased at the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week held in Mumbai on Sunday.

Assam's Sanjukta Dutta has revived the Silk of Assam. Actor cum producer Divya Khosla Kumar looked stunning in black and blue Mekhela Chadar. Divya was wearing Dutta's collection for a ramp at FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week.

Sanjukta Dutta shared through her social media platform, "I am so glad to showcase my latest collection at the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week October 2021. It is an astounding platform to promote the patterns and designs of Assam."

She also added, "It's pleasant to work with the lovely Divya Khosla Kumar. She is looking so striking in the Mekhela Chador. It gives all the artisans and weavers a lot of strength when they see their work getting acceptance on such a prominent stage".

Actor Divya Khosla Kumar shared her thoughts regarding the second association with Dutta's label. She stated, "It was a pleasure to ramp for Sanjukta Dutta for the second time. She has an perception for creativity and understands fully how to utilise the traditional band into a modern drape. Her collection highlights our rich Indian culture and additionally benefits the textile industry".

Dutta's latest collection title, "Chiki-Miki", means sparkling and bright. Her collection has the distinct touch of the indigenous cultures of Assam. Sanjukta Dutta's mekhela chador highlights the modern essence of apparel.

Assam designer Sanjukta Dutta started with a root capital of Rs 15 lakh and only three looms. However, Sanjukta's Studio has expanded to more than 100 looms now. 

In 2013, Sanjukta Dutta set up two hand-crafted units in Guwahati, Assam. The following year, she started a commercial boutique, enabling people to visit the boutique and buy garments and ornaments.
