DGP GP Singh asked the banned outfit to give over the dead bodies to their families...


Digital Desk: After the banned outfit claimed responsibility for the execution of top ULFA-I leader Lachit Hazarika, also known as Brigadier Salim Asom, and female cadre Bornali, Assam DGP GP Singh requested the group to hand over the bodies to the relatives of the victims.


Additionally, GP Singh claimed that the press releases only serve a limited purpose and urged the outlawed group to return the deceased people's bodies to their families so that funeral rites could be done.


Here's what the top cop posted on X- As per Translation it says "Press releases have a limited role. Please send the bodies back from the jungle. Please pay your last respects to the family."



On Tuesday, the banned ULFA(Independent) group admitted to killing the organization's top leader, Lachit Hazarika alias Brigadier Salim Asom, and the female cadre Bornali Asom.






Sources claim that Salim Asom, who joined the group in the 1990s, was close to ULFA-I leader Paresh Baruah. whereas Bornali had joined the group in 2021.


On September 20, a senior ULFA-I leader named Lachit Hazarika, also known as Brigadier Salim Asom, received the death penalty in the Sagain region of Myanmar. The armed militant organisation also executed Bornali, a boxer from Tinsukia who belonged to the banned group.


Lachit Hazarika and Bornali Asom alias Nayanmani Chetia, according to the insurgent group, violated the organization's policies and the organization's constitution by working with the Indian intelligence services and blackmailing other members to make them hand over their weapons to the enemy.
