Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has outlined ambitious plans for state recruitment examinations amidst ongoing flood relief efforts. In a Facebook live session on July 8, Sarma detailed the schedule for the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) for Grade 3 and Grade 4 positions.
For Grade 3 posts-old, preliminary exams are scheduled for September 15, 22, and 29, followed by mains and viva rounds. Grade 4 exams will begin with preliminaries on October 20 and 27, progressing through subsequent assessment stages. The recruitment initiative aims to fill around 7,500 Grade 3 and 4,500 Grade 4 vacancies across Assam.
Addressing improving flood conditions, particularly in Dibrugarh and other affected areas where waters from the Brahmaputra River are receding, Sarma expressed optimism for further improvements. He assured continued government support to expedite relief efforts and assist displaced residents returning from relief camps.
Ahead of a cabinet meeting on July 10, Sarma highlighted ministerial visits to assess flood damages and expedite rehabilitation measures. Stressing urgency, he aimed for normalcy restoration by August 15, 2024, particularly for affected students and families.
Acknowledging recent tragedies, Sarma visited the family of Avinash Sarkar in Guwahati, who tragically lost his life in a drain. He assured the family of government assistance and committed to ensuring justice in the matter.
Looking forward, Sarma addressed inquiries about Assam Police recruitment, confirming physical tests commencing on October 3 for 6,400 posts-old once flood-affected grounds are usable. Additionally, plans for recruitment in elementary and secondary education sectors in 2025 were outlined, considering extended timelines for secondary education examinations.
