Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Friday offered a definitive assurance to teachers recently regularised under the Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) from Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA), confirming that there is absolutely no uncertainty surrounding their monthly salaries. The Minister explicitly stated that the current delay in disbursement for the month is merely a temporary hiccup, attributing it to essential technical and procedural adjustments. He further promised that all pending payments are slated to be credited to the teachers' accounts within the next two days.
This critical clarification from the Education Minister followed a direct engagement with concerned representatives. Minister Pegu held a meeting with delegates from both the SRD Teachers’ Welfare Forum and the All Assam Primary Teachers’ Association in Guwahati. These teacher bodies had proactively raised significant apprehensions regarding the unexpected delay in salary payments, particularly after their long-awaited regularisation as government employees, which had initially brought much relief and anticipation.
During the interaction, Pegu elaborated that the hold-up was a direct consequence of new procedural changes being implemented within the state's financial and administrative systems.
