Three government officials of the sub-registrar office have also been placed under arrest in relation to this case...

Digital Desk: As many as eight persons, including three government employees, have been arrested in a case of land forgery in Guwahati.

Following the discovery of an alleged case of land fabrication in the Bharalumukh area of Guwahati, arrests were made.

The case came to light on December 11th, when a certain Gayatri Sarma filed a First Information Report (FIR) alleging that her late father and two brothers were the registered owners of a land parcel valued at over 2 crores.

When the legal heirs attempted to transfer ownership, they learned that the mutation procedure had been initiated at the Circle Office by Manik Das. The forgery investigation was allegedly started because Das had produced a registered sale deed dated 1995.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the case showed that the sale document was fraudulently manufactured. What was even more intriguing was the discovery that Manik Das, the primary suspect in the forgery case, had died in April of this year.

Three government officials of the sub-registrar office have also been placed under arrest in relation to this case, in addition to the five other people who have already been taken into custody, identified as Debasish Baruah, Sadoy Kumar Deka, and Nitul Chandra Das.
