Digital Desk: The flood situation in Assam marginally worsened as nearly 1.20 lakh people in 20 districts have been affected. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has reported that additional regions have been flooded as a result of multiple rivers' water levels rising above the danger level after torrential rainfall in Assam, other nearby states, and neighbouring country Bhutan.

The Beki River, Pagladiya River, and Puthimari River are all flowing above the danger level mark at Road Bridge, Nt Road Crossing, and Nh Road Crossing, respectively. 

How many villages are affected?

780 villages under 45 revenue villages of Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Hojai, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur, Tamulpur, and Udalguri, are affected by flooding, and urban flooding has also been reported in those districts. 



Flood conditions according to the ASDMA report: 

According to the ASDMA flood report, "44,707 people have been affected alone in Nalbari district, followed by 26571 people in Baksa, 25096 people in Lakhimpur, 15610 people in Tamulpur, and 3840 people in Barpeta district."


The district administration established 14 relief camps and 17 relief distribution centres, and a total of 2091 people have taken shelter in relief camps in the districts of Baksa, Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Nalbari, and Tamulpur.

In the flood-hit districts, the first wave of flooding also affected around 1.07 lakh domestic animals and poultry. On Wednesday, the NDRF, SDRF, and Fire & Emergency Services are also involved in rescue operations evacuating 1280 individuals from flood-affected districts. On Wednesday, four embankments, 72 roads, and seven bridges were damaged by floodwaters.
