Digital Desk: The flood situation in Assam has reached critical levels, affecting 14 districts and displacing 2,70,628 residents. Recent heavy rainfall averaging 21.6 mm has worsened the situation, prompting flood warnings across 41 Revenue Circles and 698 villages. Several major rivers including the Brahmaputra and its tributaries are flowing above the danger mark, posing a severe threat to residents.

Tragically, two lives were lost in Dhemaji district in the last 24 hours. Relief efforts are actively underway, with 44 relief camps set up to shelter 2,593 individuals. Essential relief supplies have been distributed, and rescue operations are being carried out by multiple response teams including the NDRF, SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, Police forces, and AAPDA Mitra Volunteers.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Borjhar has issued further warnings predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas across several districts including Nalbari, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Tinsukia, and others. 

As the situation unfolds, authorities are focused on mitigating the impact of the floods and ensuring the safety and well-being of affected populations.
