Digital Desk: Zero performance' registered in many schools in High School Examination and Assam High Madrasa Examination-2022. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the government has taken strict action against those schools.

It is to be noted that thirty-four government/provincial schools with zero performance in high school examinations and Assam High Madrasa examination will no longer have their own identity. The authorities will merge these 34 schools with the schools near them. 

Schools to be closed are 5 in Inner Cachar district, 1 in Chirang district, 1 in Darrang district, 2 in Dhubri district, 1 in Dibrugarh district, 2 in Goalpara district, 1 in Golaghat district, one in Hailakandi district, 5 in Jorhat district, 1 in Kamrup district, 7 in Karbi Anglong district, 2 in Kokrajhar district, 2 in Lakhimpur district.  Two schools in Nagaon district, one in Nalbari district and one in West Karbi Anglong district will be closed.

These closed schools will be merged with other schools. On the other hand, even the 57 recognised venture schools with zero pass percentage will now have to lose their 'recognition'. Of these schools, six each are in Jorhat district, five each in Kamrup and Nagaon districts; four each in Dibrugarh and Hojai districts, three each in Baksa, Bongaigaon, Karbi Anglong, Tinsukia and Udalguri districts; There will be two bandhs each in Charaideo, Golaghat, Kamrup-M, Majuli, Nalbari districts and one each in Barpeta, Cachar, Dhubri, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Morigaon and village districts.
