Digital Desk: The ongoing heatwave in Assam has claimed another life, with 55-year-old Jogen Kalita, a daily wage laborer, dying from the extreme conditions in Rangia on Saturday, July 27.

Kalita, who lived in Rangia in the Kamrup district, went out for his usual work despite the intense heat. After a long day under the sweltering sun, he returned home feeling unwell. His condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to a sudden loss of consciousness and collapse. His family rushed him to a nearby private hospital, but despite their swift action, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

This tragic event highlights the severe impact of the current heatwave, which has significantly increased the number of heat-related deaths. Local authorities and health officials continue to advise residents to take all necessary precautions during this extreme weather period.
