GUWAHATI: As many as 7,09,524 people were administered the COVID-19 vaccines on Friday, in the Assam government’s mega vaccination drive, organized on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.

With this, the state has so far inoculated a total of 2,15,94,309 people. While a total of 1,72,05,985 of them have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccines, as many as 43,88,324 have received both doses of the vaccines.

The mega vaccination drive was conducted in 4,575 COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs) across the state, of which 4,557 were government and 18 private sites.

The prime focus of the mega vaccination drive was to fully inoculate the people who had received their first dose in the mega vaccination drive held on June 21, 22 and 23 this year.

The mega vaccination drive also facilitated administration of first dose of COVID-19 vaccines to eligible people.

Notably, the district health teams activated all the COVID Vaccination Centres(CVCs) which were functional during the mega vaccination drive held in the month of June.

Additional CVCs were also created for more coverage of first as well as second doses.

The step regarding activation of the previous CVCs were initiated to assist the eligible people to get their second doses without any hindrances or confusion.

Nagaon district administered the highest number of 54,561 doses of the vaccines followed by Cachar with 50,630  and Tinsukia with 47,655 doses.

All the guardian ministers and guardian secretaries were present in their respective districts for boosting up the vaccination teams for more coverage and achieving the target.
