According to the police, a case was filed against him on January 18, 2022 under section 366 of the Indian Penal Code under case number 11/2022.

Digital Desk: A special court in Hailakandi condemned a man to 25 years in prison for allegedly forcing a teenage girl to marry him.

According to sources, in January of last year, the accused, named as Bijoy Bin, abducted and forcibly married a 13-year-old girl.

According to the police, a case was filed against him on January 18, 2022 under section 366 of the Indian Penal Code under case number 11/2022.

The man was detained under Section 9 of the Child Marriage Prohibition Act and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. After serving five months and thirteen days in prison, the accused was granted bail.

Considering the victim family's appeal, the court decided to hear the case on a fast-track basis. According to Section 4 of the POCSO Act, special judge Sanjoy Hazarika sentenced Bijoy to 20 years in prison. He was also sentenced to five years in prison, for a total of 25 years in prison.

Furthermore, the court has ordered him to pay Rs 10,000 for each case.
