Digital Desk: A police complaint was lodged on Sunday against Assam's Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister Atul Bora, alleging that he administered injections to vaccinate livestock illegally, despite not being a veterinary doctor.
The complaint, filed by Hirakjyoti Saikia, the Golaghat General Secretary (in-charge) of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, emphasized that Bora lacked the necessary veterinary qualifications to undertake such procedures, which could endanger the animals. The complaint was submitted to Golaghat Police Station, highlighting that unauthorized administration of veterinary treatments constitutes a punishable offense under the law.
Bora had previously shared photographs on July 12 depicting the launch of a government initiative for mobile veterinary services and vaccination campaigns across Assam, particularly in flood-affected areas like Bongkuwal village in Bokakhat constituency. The images included instances where Bora was seen personally administering injections to animals, which stirred criticism on social media.

"The matter was referred to the local police station in Golaghat district for further investigation and decision on initiating legal proceedings'" he stated.
