Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, organized a Naam Kirtan at the party office in Hengrabari, Guwahati on the occasion of, Srimanta Sankardev Tithi.

The Occasion was graced with the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in the party office and joined the auspicious Naam Kirtan.

Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev is attached to every aspect of Assamese life and culture. The BJP is adamant to take forward the idea of unity and peace of Srimanta Shankardev, who is a pioneer in the making of the larger Assamese society.

The Naam kirtan was also attended by BJP State President Bhabesh Kalita as well as party functionaries.

Srimanta Sankardev (1449–1568) was a 15th–16th century Assamese Polymath a saint-scholar, poet, playwright, dancer, actor, musician, artist,social-religious reformer, and a figure of importance in the cultural and religious history of Assam.
