Digital Desk: In the aftermath of the Lichubari Army camp blast, which was claimed by the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to take charge of the investigation. DGP GP Singh, in a press conference held in Guwahati, confirmed that an NIA team would be arriving shortly to delve into the details surrounding the three recent explosions.
"None of the guilty will be spared," asserted Singh, underlining the commitment of law enforcement to bring those responsible to justice.
The first incident unfolded on November 22, with a grenade blast targeting an army camp. Two motorcycle-borne miscreants were implicated in the attack. Subsequent joint efforts by 23 Assam rifles and Assam police led to the apprehension of a hardcore ULFA cadre, identified as Neog, who disclosed information about another ULFA member, Saurav Asom, involved in the Dirak blast on the same day.
Following these incidents, ULFA-I claimed responsibility for explosions near the army cantonment area in Dirak and at the 149 CRPF in Joysagar on December 9. Authorities suspect miscreants hurled grenades, potentially landing on the rooftop of a civilian's house.
