Digital Desk: Assam police have stated their willingness to work with any administration to assist in the return of the bodies of ULFA (I) terrorists executed by the banned organisation.
Furthermore, Assam DGP GP Singh requested the group to provide location information so that the bodies could be collected for final rites.
Assam DGP taking to the micro-blogging site X, wrote (Translated in English) "We will coordinate with any government to bring back the bodies of our people. Please let us know where you left the body. Grieving families deserve this from you."
Earlier that day, on October 3, hours after ULFA (I) issued a press statement accepting responsibility for the execution of top ULFA-I commander Lachit Hazarika alias Brigadier Salim Asom and cadre Bornali, Assam DGP GP Singh urged the outlawed group to give over their mortal remains to their respective families.
Furthermore, GP Singh noted that news releases have a limited role to play and urged the banned organisation to give over the deceased corpses to their families so that final rites could be performed.
On Tuesday, the banned ULFA(Independent) claimed responsibility for the killing of top ULFA-I commander Lachit Hazarika alias Brigadier Salim Asom and female cadre Bornali Asom alias Nayanmani Chetia.
Going back to the incident issue, on September 20, top ULFA-I leader Lachit Hazarika alias Brigadier Salim Asom was sentenced to death in Myanmar's Sagain area of Hachi camp. Bornali Asom, a Tinsukia boxer and member of the banned outfit, was also sentenced to death by the armed militant group.
