Digital Desk: In a sensational incident, a police officer ended his life by allegedly shooting himself in Dibrugarh district of Assam, reports stated on Saturday.
According to the initial report, the deceased has been identified as Anupam Gowala, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Namrup Police Station. The incident reportedly took place at Rangpuria in Dibrugarh's Lahowal locality at around 2 am today.
Gowala reportedly committed suicide with his service gun. He lived in Bokakhat's Kakosang area.
According to reports, Bishnupriya Lahon Gogoi, a woman, was seriously injured in the incident. She is in critical condition and has been admitted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH).
The sources also stated that the body of the deceased OC was found at the Rangpuria home of a man identified as Bipul Gogoi.
