Digital Desk: Strict guidelines were released on May 16, as all police officers were given a three-month term to lose weight. This mandate led officers to prioritise their fitness and health, paving the way for a more stronger police force.

Following the expiration of a three-month deadline, Assam police personnel will be subjected to a Body Mass Index test on Wednesday. It should be noted that the BMI recording exam is currently being conducted in 35 different places around the state.

These tests will be held from August 16 to 21, and all police officers, regardless of rank, will be required to participate as ordered by the Director General of Police for Assam, GP Singh.

According to sources, the BMI of police officers must be less than 30. If a cop's BMI is greater than 30, he or she will be granted an additional three months to lose weight.

Those who fail the BMI test will also receive additional instruction at the Dergaon Instruction Centre. Even after that, if a cop's weight is not reduced, they will be fired from their position.

Furthermore, Assam Director General of Police GP Singh passed the BMI test with a score of 25.
