Digital Desk: Assam police rescued 23 cattle in the Nagaon district on Thursday evening.

The police stated that the cattle were rescued from a truck with the registration number 'HR-38-R-7855' from the Hatipara area. 

Reportedly, the cattle were allegedly being trafficked to Bangladesh before being intercepted by police.

Meanwhile, the truck's driver and another occupant managed to flee from the scene, the police stated, who added that a manhunt has been initiated to apprehend the duo.

Earlier, 41 animals were rescued in the Golaghat district.

They were rescued from a container truck that was on its way from Bokakhat to Nagaon's Samuguri when it was intercepted.
