Digital Desk: In an ongoing war against drugs, Assam Police made a significant seizure in Karimganj district along the Assam-Tripura border on Tuesday, uncovering a substantial quantity of cough syrup and apprehending two individuals.

As per reports, 9700 bottles of cough syrup were seized by the police from a vehicle in the Churaibari area of the Karimganj district. 

The police team intercepted a truck at the Churaibari checkpoint near the Assam-Tripura border in response to intelligence reports. 

Following a thorough investigation, Assam Police found over 193 cartons inside the car including roughly 9,700 bottles of codeine phosphate cough syrup (Eskuf/Phensedyl). 

Two individuals from West Bengal, Sadananda Ray, and Sanjay Ray, were taken into custody in relation to the seizure.

Further investigations are underway.
