CM Sarma claimed that the issue of regular load shedding in Assam has been addressed...

Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing the State Legislative Assembly's Autumn Session on Monday stated that Assam's power tariff is lower than those of states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat.

CM Sarma claimed that the issue of regular load shedding in Assam has been addressed and that for the past two days, there has been no load shedding in the state.

CM Sarma said, "Since there is no electricity generation here and we are a dependent state, we must look for ways to resolve the problem. Soon the state will get a semiconductor with 40 thousand crore investment.”

Speaking to the Assembly, CM Sarma noted that the state only produces 400 MWs of power for Rs 9, and hence the tariff in a domestic category is less compared to other states.

According to CM Sarma, "On matters relating to power consumption across households where smart meters have been installed, the consumption has come down drastically to 60% which is actually very positive as people are now aware and prudent with power use."
