Digital Desk: Assam reported an 88 percent increase in new covid-19 cases on Thursday, with 3,677 more people testing positive for the virus and 20 more deaths from the virus, according to the National Health Mission (NHM).   On the other hand, the state's covid-19 positivity rate dropped to 8.28 percent after 44,389 samples were examined, according to NHM. On Wednesday, Assam had 1,951 cases with a 9.85 percent positivity rate out of 19,803 samples tested. Kamrup (M) reported 768 new cases compared to 422 the day before, an increase of roughly 82 percent. So far, 1,53,064 infections have been detected. The number of people recovered dropped by more than 38% to 4,545 on Thursday, down from 7,365 on Wednesday, according to the NHM. So far, 6,65,629 covid-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals and CCCs in Assam. Twenty people died from the virus throughout the day, three in Udalguri, two each in Biswanath, Darrang, Karimganj, Sonitpur, and Tinsukia, and one each in Barpeta, Cachar, Dibrugarh, Kamrup Metropolitan, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, and Morigaon. According to NHM, the overall number of covid-19-infected patients who have died has risen to 7,726, with 1,347 of them having co-morbidities. Currently, the state has 35,175 active cases, which are being treated at various hospitals and Covid Care Centers (CCCs) throughout the state, with some patients being placed in home isolation. The NHM also said that a total of 4,10,69,504 doses of covid-19 were administered, which includes 2,31,23,192 first doses, 1,78,09,968 second doses, and 1,36,344 cautionary doses.
