Digital Desk: Assam Rifles personnel recovered ten passive night sight (PNS) devices and 3,000 rounds of ammunition for a sniper rifle in the Lawngtlai district of Mizoram. The paramilitary force released the information in a statement on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, the Assam rifles troops intercepted a car in the Sanagu market area and found the PNS devices and sniper rifle ammunition inside, the statement stated.

Certain guns can be operated in low light using PNS devices.

Marking yet another victory in their campaign against smuggling activities, the Assam Rifles seized Heroin No. 4, weighing 5394 grams and valued at Rupees 37.75 crore on March 6, 2024, in the general vicinity of Melbuk Road Junction, Zokhawthar Champhai district.

Based on specific information, a joint Assam Rifles squad and a police department official from Zokhawthar conducted the operation. Heroin No. 4's complete shipment, weighing 5394 grams and costing Rs 37,75,80,000 (Rupees Thirty-Five Crore Seventy-Five Lakh Eighty Thousand only), as well as the arrested person, has been turned over to the Police Department Zokhawthar for additional legal action.
