Digital Desk: In the wake of the incessant rainfall, the Darrang district administration has ordered all educational institutions in the district to remain closed from June 16 to June 19.

According to Darrang DC Pranab Kumar Sarma, schools would be shuttered until Sunday, unless the situation improves slightly.

In particular, the flood situation in Assam has worsened as a result of the state's heavy and continuous rainfall during the last few days.


According to a report by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), flood waters are still affecting over 18 districts and 37 revenue circles in the state.

Moreover, the ASDMA data stated that the floods affected 74,116 people in 314 communities. 

On the other hand, seven relief camps have been established across the state, with a total of 1,224 inmates currently residing there.

In addition, Guwahati has three relief camps and five relief distribution centres.
