Bora reportedly addressed his resignation letter to the party's senior officials as well, however, he did not mention who.

Digital Desk: Senior Congress leader from Assam, Suresh Bora, resigned from the party's primary membership on Friday. As he submitted his resignation, a large number of supporters joined him.

On Thursday night, Bora, the previous president of the Nagaon district Congress, decided to step down from his role.

Bora announced his resignation on Friday morning at his Itachali mansion after all the leaders of the Barhampur Assembly Constituency and workers went there at his request.

Bora reportedly addressed his resignation letter to the party's senior officials as well, however, he did not mention who.

Notably, Jitu Goswami of the BJP beat Bora in the 2021 assembly elections by a margin of 751 votes, confined to the Barhampur seat. Notable is the fact that Bora was crucial in Pradyut Bordoloi's win in the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency in 2019.

Concerns have been raised over Bora's departure from the local political scene as the Congress looks to solidify its hold on the area.
