Nahid Afrin made it clear that if the award belongs to Singer Rupjyoti Devi then she is ready to return the award with due respect.

Digital Desk: Popular singer Nahid Afrin received an award for the song 'Nilate Luka-Bhaku' from the film 'Nijan’. The song was originally sung by Singer Rupjyoti Devi. The entire incident created controversy and blame game has been prominent since the anomaly has been reported. Nahid, however, clarified later that the song was not her original and that there has been a misunderstanding.

The Best Background Vocalist award went to Nahid Afrin at the Assam State Film Awards. But there was a mismatch between the award and the awardee which led to a massive confusion.

MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar now contends that it was not Nahid's fault, but the fault was actually of the jury committee.

Nahid Afrin made it clear that if the award belongs to Singer Rupjyoti Devi then she is ready to return the award with due respect.

Also she made an impactful statement saying that an award doesn’t define an artist but his or her work does. “If I receive a national award but after that I sing awfully then I will not be valued anymore”, she added.

The final decision is pending and the government is expected to take a firm decision soon.
