It has been determined that the detained police officer is Sub-Inspector (UB) Chintu Das of the Kajalgaon Police Station's Dhaligaon Town Outpost.

Digital Desk: The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption arrested a Sub Inspector in the Chirang district of Assam on suspicion of bribery as part of a massive anti-corruption operation.

It has been determined that the detained police officer is Sub-Inspector (UB) Chintu Das of the Kajalgaon Police Station's Dhaligaon Town Outpost.

According to a complaint, to release the complainant's vehicles, Chintu Das allegedly wanted a bribe of Rs. 1,50,000. Reluctant to give in to corruption, the complaint approached the Directorate for legal assistance.

On Tuesday, January 9, a vigilant group from the Directorate set up a trap at Dhaligaon Town Outpost. As a result, Chintu Das was apprehended right away after he agreed to pay Rs. 10,000 as part of the requested bribe.

Unbiased witnesses saw the incident and the tainted money was found and seized.

The Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as modified in 2018) has led to the registration of a case at the ACB Police Station under Section 7(a). Legal proceedings are currently in progress, and the accused Sub Inspector is presently in detention.
