Digital Desk: In a distressing discovery near the city of Rani, nine vultures were found dead in a field in Guimari, sending shockwaves through the local conservation community. The incident, reported early this morning, involved the discovery of two white-backed vultures, six Himalayan Griffons, and one black kite, all deceased on site.

Immediate response efforts were initiated by the vulture conservation and breeding center in Rani, with forest department personnel swiftly arriving at the scene to assess the situation. Preliminary investigations suggest that the cause of death may be linked to the consumption of meat from poisoned carcasses.

This tragic incident adds to a growing concern among nature enthusiasts, as it follows a disturbing pattern of vulture mortality in the region.

Over 200 similar incidents of dead vultures have been reported across different parts of South Kamrup, further exacerbating fears for the well-being of these vital scavengers.

The loss of these nine vultures serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by wildlife in the region, highlighting the urgent need for proactive measures to safeguard their habitats and mitigate threats to their survival.
