The youth from the Kokrajhar area reportedly went to Meghalaya, a neighbouring state, for work.
Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Kumguri hamlet in Kokrajhar's Tulsibeel neighbourhood, has been identified as the deceased youth.
Rafiqul had travelled to the Ri Bhoi district with his father-in-law. According to the information, when his father-in-law left for shopping on Sunday evening, Rafiqul was attacked by some unknown miscreants.
According to reports, the incident occurred in a neighbourhood under the jurisdiction of Umiam Police Station.
