Tezpur: The first LGBTQIA+ organization of Assam successfully got registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. Xobdo- Dialogue Dignity Movement Foundation is a flag bearer organization that serves specifically on LGBTQIA+ matters.
It is the maiden registered LGBTQIA+ organization in Assam. This organization stands as the first such group from Assam.
Prominently, on September 6, 2018, the IPC Section 377 was read down by the Honourable Supreme Court, decriminalizing homosexuality in India. Since then, the month of September has been marked by most queer Indians as Pride month.

On this significant occasion, co-founder Luku (Arpana Choudhury) has stated, "Xobdo Foundation incepted in 2018 and has been serving autonomously since then. As the title reflects, our purpose & concept is to generate dialogue amongst the youth to support the dignity of all individuals identifying as LGBTQIA+. Therefore planning a movement towards an equal society."
It's worth considering that co-founder of Xobdo, Luku was listed in Forbes India 30 under 30, 2017, for supporting & advocating the rights of Adivasi women operating on tea plantations of Assam.
From its origin, Xobdo Foundation has been actively supporting the dignity of the LGBTQIA+ and creating awareness on gender and sexuality.
Xobdo Foundation also initiated an outreach program named QueerTessential. This program got immense support and upliftment from the youths. The program aimed at sharing awareness on gender and sexuality through dialogue discussion, talks & films screenings.

Moreover, the initiative shredded information on the accounts of the LGBTQIA+ youth & the wound marks of the concerned community.
Indranee Kalita, another co-founder of Xobdo, stated, "We, the team Xobdo Foundation strive at breaking the taboos around LGBTQIA+ communities. We are here to build a secure space for the community through conversations, film screenings, discussions, and organizing committee discussions."
Xobdo is the first queer movement of Tezpur, Assam. It believes in equal opportunities for all individuals, irrespective of their gender and sexual identities. Netizens are pouring their support & complimenting the organization for breaking the barriers.
