  • Assam's Ghost Pepper Sets Off on a Global Voyage
  • Rs 1 Crore Export to International Markets

Digital Desk: In a groundbreaking achievement, KADlien Innovations & Export Centre, in collaboration with dynamic young entrepreneurs from the region, has successfully promoted the iconic Ghost Pepper (Bhoot Jolokia, Bih Jolokia, Raja Mircha) for value-added product development and export through a leading multinational food company (MNC). This season alone, the initiative has unlocked revenue exceeding one crore Indian Rupee, marking a milestone in India’s Ghost pepper agri-business landscape.

Certified by Guinness World Records in 2007 as the world’s hottest chili pepper, Ghost Pepper boasts a heat level of over 1 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Typically red or orange in appearance and measuring 2.5–3.5 inches with smooth or wrinkled skin, Bhoot Jolokia also received its Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2008, and remains a coveted ingredient in global spice markets.

This success is part of KADlien’s mission to build resilient supply chains that empower farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), women’s groups, and local entrepreneurs across Assam and the broader Northeast region. By establishing a seamless farm-to-export ecosystem, KADlien has catalyzed innovation in processing, manufacturing, logistics, and international trade—creating a robust business network that drives both economic growth and sustainable development.

The initiative has also generated meaningful employment for indigenous communities while delivering high-quality products to customers worldwide. KADlien continues to work in close association with APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), the Spice Board of India, and FIEO (Federation of Indian Export Organisations) to develop a comprehensive export ecosystem—from production and processing to logistics and global distribution.

With this season’s success as a launchpad, KADlien now projects business revenue to exceed five crores Indian Rupee in the coming season. This achievement stands as a powerful testament to the untapped potential of Northeast India and its rising prominence on the global stage.
