Guwahati: Atleast 4,000 employees under Saakshar Bharat Abhiyaan have been deprived of their deserved salaries for three and a half years. 

On Thursday, the employees demanded their payment as early as possible to the government. 

The Ministry of Human Resource Development launched the Saakshar Bharat Abhiyan Mission scheme for illiterate people above 15 years. 

Reportedly, under the mission, 3618 youth has been engaged on a contractual basis in 13 districts of Assam since 2010. 

An employee under the mission stated, “We are being deprived of our deserved payment for three years. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is not paying any attention to solve our issue.”

Further, the employees informed the media that they would stage protests across the state in the coming days if their demand is not fulfilled.
