This proactive step by the Dibrugarh district administration reinforces the significance of upholding legal and environmental standards...

Digital Desk: In response to the growing concern over illegal coal mining activities, the Dibrugarh district administration has taken a decisive step to maintain law and order in the Tarajan Tea Estate, Naharkatia area.

The District Magistrate, exercising powers under Section 144 Cr.P.C., issued a prohibitory order citing the potential threat to public peace, tranquillity, and safety of life and property.

The order highlights the sensitive law and order situation prevailing in the Tarajan T.E., situated about 5 km northeast of the historical Tipam Hill in Dibrugarh District. The likelihood of illegal coal mining, specifically rat hole mining, poses a significant risk, prompting the administration to intervene to prevent any breach of law and order.

Tarajan Tea Estate, located in Tarajan Pahar, falls under Joypur Police Station in Naharkatia Revenue Circle, Dibrugarh. The district administration, in continuation of a prior order, has explicitly prohibited certain activities in the region, aiming to curb the illegal mining practices.

The order warns that any violation of these prohibitions is punishable under Section 188 of the IPC, emphasizing the seriousness with which the administration views the issue. The ban reflects the authorities' commitment to safeguarding the well-being of the community and preventing potential harm to the environment and infrastructure associated with illegal mining practices.

This proactive step by the Dibrugarh district administration reinforces the significance of upholding legal and environmental standards, sending a clear message against unauthorized and detrimental activities that could jeopardize the region's stability and safety.
