Dhaka: Reacting to the recent incidents of communal violence during Durga Puja festivities in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the Home Minister of the country Asaduzzaman Khan to identify the perpetrators of these violences and take exemplary action against them as quickly as possible.

This was informed to the media by the Cabinet Secretary of her ministry Khandker Anwarul Islam after the conclusion of a weekly cabinet meeting in Dhaka.

According to reports PM Hasina’s directive regarding the issue came amidst the ‘harmony rallies’ and peace processions held around different parts of the nation on Tuesday against these recent attacks on the minority community.

Additionally, the General Secretary of the ruling Awami League Obaidul Quader on Tuesday also condemned these anti-minority violences in the country. In a statement, he said the Prime Minister and the Bangladesh government are with the minority community.

Further, he added that Sheikh Hasina’s government is minority friendly government. He also urged the minority community not to live with any fear.

Recently, Bangladesh has been jolted by a number of attacks on minorities. Their homes, temples, and even Durga Puja pandals were also attacked during the festivities.
