Digital Desk: On Sunday evening, Dhula Police apprehended a Bangladeshi national, identified as Mohammad Zakir, from the residence of Hatim Ali in Latakhat village in Darrang.


Mohammad Zakir, a resident of Fatowakhali in Barishal, Bangladesh, had reportedly been living and working in Bengaluru for several years.


Investigations revealed that Mohammad Zakir married a woman from Latakhat village while in Bengaluru by concealing his true identity. The couple has one child.


The deception came to light a few days ago when the woman discovered her husband's actual nationality and returned to her parental home.


Zakir subsequently travelled to Latakhat village in search of his wife and child.


Acting on a tip-off, Dhula Police launched an operation and successfully detained him.


A formal case has been registered, and the suspect was sent  to judicial custody today.


Meanwhile, authorities are still working to confirm the official identity of the woman involved.
