To protest the alleged prejudice against candidates from the valley during a recent exam for appointments to grade-III and grade-IV posts-old of the state government, Purkayastha declared that they will also support the bandh.

Digital Desk: The Barak Valley bandh has been called by the Barak Democratic Front on November 18. According to Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, the working president of the Assam Congress and North Karimganj MLA, the party will support the bandh.

At a rally in Shillong, Meghalaya, on October 28, a 12-hour bandh would be held in protest of the state government's "indifferent attitude" toward Bengalis and its lack of punishment against those responsible for the violence against non-tribals.
