Dr. Shankar Balakrishnan, epilepsy specialist and epilepsy surgeon from Chennai, and Dr. Hrishikesh Sarkar from Shillong spoke at today's press conference at Bethany Hospital in Shillong.

According to Dr. Hrishikesh Sarkar, Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at MIOT International, Stroke, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, head injuries, and brain tumors are common neurological diseases.

He added that the purpose of the visit is to provide expert advice on this complicated disorder.

Sarkar stated that epilepsy disorder is a treatable disease and that children with this disease can have a normal childhood with surgery.

Because the treatment is costly, the MIOT and Bethany Hospital will lobby the state government to establish a program to assist underprivileged patients in receiving treatment.
