Bhagwant Mann had earlier suggested that individuals from all across the state come to Khatkar Kalan, around 80 kilometers from Chandigarh on the highway to Jalandhar in Nawanshahr district, for the swearing-in event, wearing yellow turbans and hanging yellow shawls or stoles. "That day, we shall color Khatkar Kalan in 'Basanti ring,'" Mann stated in a message, according to news agency IANS. The oath-taking ceremony takes place just days before the March 23, 1931, death anniversaries of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru, who British colonialists hung. The oath ceremony for Bhagwant Mann's cabinet, which could include 17 members, would take place later, according to sources quoted by IANS. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, won 92 seats in Punjab, up from 20 in 2017, with a 42.4 percent vote share. On Sunday, Bhagwant Mann met with Governor Banwarilal Purohit at the Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh to present a claim to the government. "We also informed the Governor about the swearing-in ceremony's location and time." I've extended an invitation to all Punjabis to attend this historical event in Khatkar Kalan. On March 16, not just we and our ministers but all of Punjab's citizens will take an oath to restore the province's prosperity. Punjab prospers because we all work together." Mann told newly elected party legislators to spend as much time as possible in their districts, rather than in the capital Chandigarh, and not aspire to Cabinet positions.
