Digital Desk: Dr. MS Lakshmi Priya, IAS, Mission Director National Health Mission Assam, was praised by Bill Gates, Co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, at the Empowerment Through Nourishment: Celebrating Women of New India event held in New Delhi by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India.
Dr. Priya also demonstrated key insights from field actions that encourage nutrition, mother and child health, and maternal and child health through the Mother model under Project SAMPOORNA in Bongaigaon District, which won the Prime Ministers Award for Excellence in Public Administration in the 'Innovation Category' in 2021.
However, Gates later posted on Twitter, “appreciating the initiatives taken by Assam to improve the nutrition outcomes. Zubin Smriti Irani, Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development was also present during the event.
Dr. Priya also acknowledged Gates for his outstanding and informative participation in the event.
