Digital Desk: Amid election campaigns, in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, pre-poll violence was witnessed on Sunday night. Allegedly, 14 vehicles of NCP leaders were allegedly attacked by an aggressive mob in Namsai, in which 10 people were injured.

Arunachal NCP president and Namsai party candidate Likha Saaya and his followers were attacked by an unidentified mob at Piyong village under the Namsai police station on Monday.

According to the complaint of the NCP candidate, the BJP party candidate from the Namsai constituency, Jigno Namchung, attacked several vehicles of the NCP.

Allegations from the NCP leader reveal that the BJP candidate has hired some drug addicts from a nearby de-addiction centre to attack the NCP leader’s convoy. The NCP leader says that even after repeated complaints, no action has been taken against the violence.

The NCP leaders addressed a press conference, and Likha Saya staged a protest in front of the commissioner at the secretariat. A meeting was called at the district secretariat in the presence of the deputy commissioner of Namsai, the superintendent of police, and senior officials of paramilitary forces.

The BJP candidate Jignu Namchung and the NCP candidate Lekha Sai were directed by the administration to attend the meeting. Still, the BJP candidate was not present at the meeting, and his representatives arrived and apologised for the entire incident.
