Ranjeet Kumar Dass, president of Assam unit of BJP told reporters on Sunday afternoon "That decision will be taken by the parliamentary board. The party is sending an observer, will talk to all stakeholders and a decision will be taken based on his report."

Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that the next Chief Minister will be decided democratically once the counting gets over. Therefore, there were no clear observations made by anyone on this question.

The party avoided such questions during the campaigns as well. Now that the counting is over, BJP is still stuck with their words of saying that the parliamentary board will decide the upcoming Chief Minister of Assam. Rather, Sarbananda Sonowal said that the people of Assam have converted their faith into reality. He is grateful to all the people of Assam.
