Guwahati: The women's wing of the world's largest political party, BJP Mahila Morcha, initiated a GeM portal training session for women. The training session took place in Guwahati.
This initiative has been driven under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav program. National Mahila Morcha BJP member Usha Bajpai provided the training. Bajpai is also the in-charge of the GeM portal.
The purpose of the campaign was to ensure that a large number of women register themselves in the porta and move forward in strengthening their enterprise.
GeM portal is a short form of one-stop Government e-Market Place hosted by the Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals (DGS&D) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

This is a portal where common user goods and services can be procured. GeM is an active, independent and user-friendly outlet for creating procurement by Government officials.
The significant aspect of the GeM portal is that this portal under the government scheme will provide a better opportunity for income for small business establishments. It will further benefit domestic outlets to reach their customers online.
GeM platform is both beneficial for buyers and traders. There is an ease of buying things with minimum effort. Sellers will also get an option to suggest government to market new products through the platform. On the other hand, buyers can search and compare prices under the platform options.
