Digital Desk: The body of Madhab Sarmah, who went missing after reportedly falling from a ferry into the Brahmaputra River on 16th April , has been recovered after six days. According to reports, the body was found floating on a sandbar in the Brahmaputra at Ulupam under Bhokot Chapori, where it was first spotted by local residents. Police personnel reached the spot soon after being informed.


Locals initially identified the body as that of Madhab Sarmah, and his family members later confirmed the identification.


It may be mentioned that Sarmah had gone missing after falling from a ferry named “SB Pritish” while it was en route towards Nimati Ghat via the Kamalabari–Nimati water route in Majuli. The ferry was reportedly carrying an excess number of passengers at the time of the incident.
