Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar has extended her support to flood-ravaged Assam, personally engaging in relief and rehabilitation efforts in the Sivasagar district. Her visit on August 6 marks her direct involvement as the latest celebrity to offer assistance to those severely impacted by the devastating floods in the state.
During her time in Sivasagar, Pednekar met with numerous flood-affected families, spending time to understand their plight. She also interacted closely with local volunteers and actively participated in the distribution of essential relief supplies. These efforts were undertaken in collaboration with the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation, aiming to provide immediate aid to the most vulnerable.
Sharing glimpses of her visit on social media, the actor underscored the long road to recovery, stating, "Every flooded village reminds us that recovery doesn't begin when the rain stops, it begins when help arrives." This hands-on approach follows an earlier appeal she made on July 25, urging people nationwide to contribute towards the urgent need for food, mattresses, sanitation supplies, and other critical items for the flood victims.
Pednekar's presence in Assam builds on a growing wave of support from the Indian film industry. Notably, actor Randeep Hooda also recently engaged in relief work in Sivasagar, partnering with Global Sikhs to distribute food and organize community meals for families residing in relief camps. Several other prominent personalities, including Kartik Aaryan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Tahira Kashyap, Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan's Being Human Foundation, and Anupam Kher, have also contributed significantly to the ongoing flood relief operations in Assam, highlighting a collective effort to support the state during this challenging period.
