Digital Desk: Raha MLA Sashikanta Das has been suspended from the state Congress bastion by APCC President Bhupen Kumar Borah for ‘indulging in anti-party activities.

In its letter addressing the MLA, the APCC President Bhupen Borah states that the “Congress party has taken this decision due to pending disciplinary proceeding with immediate effect for repeatedly violating party discipline and indulging in anti-party activities.”

It may be mentioned here that, earlier MLA Sashikanta Das faced his party’s ire after he met Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, courting rumours of a party switch.

During his meet, Sashikanta had shown his interest towards the ruling BJP government and extended support with an eagerness to work with the BJP government for the development of his constituency.

Das has not yet resigned from Congress but is touted to eventually join the saffron party. Prior to Das, 2 Congress MLAs – Rupjyoti Kurmi and Sushanta Borgohain joined BJP citing ‘infighting in Congress.’

In whatsoever, Das denied of any such rumours of changing his party. Yet, the state Congress bastion couldn't accept this breach of trust and party discipline and tendered a suspension letter to Sashikanta Das.
