Digital Desk: In a swift and successful operation, the Lakhipur Police and Jirighat Police in Cachar district apprehended four individuals suspected of murder within hours of the crime.
During the arrest, police recovered a cache of weapons, including four rounds of live ammunition, two SBBL guns, and a .22 pistol.
The incident occurred on Monday morning when the victim, identified as Luku Mia Laskar of Atghar village along the Assam-Manipur border, was intercepted by an armed group shortly after leaving his house.
Laskar was reportedly abducted at gunpoint and taken to a remote location.
His body was later discovered from a road far from his house, bearing bullet wounds and signs of severe physical assault, including broken limbs.
Following the discovery, a forensic team assisted the police in launching an immediate investigation.
The rapid response led to the successful apprehension of the four suspects, who are currently being interrogated at Jirighat Police Station.
Although the exact motive behind the murder is still unclear, it is suspected to be linked to a long-standing land dispute.
