The Canadian couple captured their extraordinary day in an Instagram video, beginning with them cautiously travelling to the airport to pick up their puppy.

Digital Desk: It’s always exciting to welcome a new pet into the household. For one couple, though, it was something exceptional since their dog physically travelled across the world — from India to Canada — to find its ultimate home. A lovely video of a Canadian couple welcoming their four-legged family member is now going viral on the internet.

While most people in India are interested in purchasing foreign breeds of dogs, one canadian couple is gaining popularity online for their decision to adopt an Indian pariah stray rescued from the streets. Havilah Heger Wiley and her husband Stephen finally got to meet the canine after months of waiting and completing a mountain of paperwork.

The Canadian couple captured their extraordinary day in an Instagram video, beginning with them cautiously travelling to the airport to pick up their puppy, which they have called Indy. The footage shows the pooch approaching the pair as they emerge from the container and smelling their new family members.

“A little shy at first, but didn’t take long to bond. Welcome home Indy,” the couple wrote in the caption. The dog was adopted through the Dharamsala Animal Rescue in India.

In another post on Indy’s adoption, the lady explained that it took five days for the desi canine to arrive at her new home, including two days spent waiting for her connecting flight in Toronto, “She is gentle, sweet, goofy, and FULL of energy,” the woman added, describing their new pet.

Wiley revealed further information of Indy’s rescue, saying the dog was hit by a vehicle as a puppy, injuring a leg and its tail. “Her tail never recovered and had to get amputated so now she has the cutest little stub tail,” Wiley said.

However, that didn’t dissuade the couple from adopting her. “We are SO obsessed and wildly in love,” the woman claimed.

The family has been documenting their everyday adventures with the dog, from going on hikes to the dog becoming fond of digging in the snow and meeting new neighbours. Their narrative has also motivated many others to adopt Indian canines not just in India but even worldwide.
