Dibrugarh: A video of a man, abusing a woman standing in front of him while in a queue at the Dibrugarh branch of SBI, has been arrested by the Dibrugarh police. The video that had gone viral on social media, faced a barrage of reactions from the netizens, who demanded the accused to be arrested as soon as possible. Soon after the police acted swiftly as per inputs and arrested Ritu Raj from a Night Super, while he was trying to flee from Sivasagar.

One can see from the video that Ritu Raj, in a pink T-shirt and a mask, pressing his lower body on the back of the woman, while standing in the counter line.

GP Singh, Special DGP (Law & Order) of the Assam Police, on Twitter said “Reference viral video of molestation in SBI Dibrugarh branch case has been registered vide Dbr PS
Case no. 1793/21 u/s 354A/509 IPC. Accused has been identified as Ritu Raj Saikia and arrested by @dibrugarhpolice. Lawful action being taken.

The incident took place on 13th September in Dibrugarh's Thana Chariali SBI Branch. The accused Ritu Raj was standing in a queue, when he tried to press his lower body on the back of the woman in the counter line.

The police nabbed Ritu Raj Gogoi alias Ritu Nandeswar Chenchua from Sivasagar Bus Stand, while he was attempting to flee as soon the video went viral on social media.

Based on inputs, a team of police of Sivasagar's Sadar Police Station reached the bus stand and nabbed the miscreant Ritu Raj Gogoi.

Currently, Ritu Raj has been handed over to the Dibrugarh Police and a probe is underway in the case.
