Earlier in March, four ACS officers were suspended in connection with the MPLAD money scandal.

Digital Desk: The Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell filed a charge against MP Ajit Bhuyan and 13 others in connection with the Assam Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) budget scandal on Tuesday.

The case has been filed at the special judge's court by the CM's supervision cell. The lawsuit concerns charges of corruption and malpractice.

Among those charged are high-ranking officials such as ACS Sharmistha Bora and Hemanta Dutta.

Earlier in March, four ACS officers were suspended in connection with the MPLAD money scandal.

According to sources, a money from MP Bhuyan's MPLAD fund has been given for road building in Assam's Barpeta. However, the bill was not disclosed until 75 percent of the work was completed.

The swindle was discovered when the CM's Special Vigilance unit conducted an inquiry and discovered that the four suspended officers signed the bill before 75 percent of the road construction work was completed.

Sukanya Bora, Additional Commissioner of Kamrup, presided over the MP Construction Fund Committee.

It should be noted that Rs. 28 lakhs were appropriated from Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan's MPLAD Fund towards the construction of three roads in Barpeta.

These three roads, however, were not built, and the allocated cash were taken away by presenting forged road construction bills.
