The peace agreements will be signed in the presence of Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Digital Desk: Ten years after the peace process began, the Assam administration and the Centre will sign a tripartite peace agreement in New Delhi with eight Adivasi militant groups.

The peace agreements will be signed in the presence of Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The remaining three outfits are breakaway groups of Birsa Commando Force (BCF), All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA), Adivasi Cobra Military of Assam (ACMA), and Santhali Tiger Force (STF), making up the eight rebel factions.

Since the beginning of the government-initiated ceasefire in 2012, the members of the militant groups Birsa Commando Force (BCF), Adivasi People's Army (APA), All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA), Adivasi Cobra Military of Assam (ACMA), and Santhali Tiger Force (STF) have been residing in designated camps.

The agreement's signing, according to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, "will herald in a new age of peace and harmony in Assam."

A total of 246 state militants from two different factions put down their weapons and reintegrated into society on January 27 of this year.

169 members of the United Gorkha People's Organization (UGPO) and 77 members of the Tiwa Liberation Army (TLA) laid down their weapons in front of Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Chief Executive Member of BTR Pramod Boro, and CEM TAC Jibon Chandra Konwar at an arms-laying ceremony held in Guwahati's Srimanta Sankardev Kalak.
