New Delhi: The Central Government urged the states to vaccinate roadside destitute and vagabonds on priority basis who may not have access to self-registration and lack resources for their jabs.

The Centre in its latest order requested states/UTs to direct their concerned Departments of Social Justice and Empowerment and Health to work together to facilitate vaccination of destitute, beggars and vagabonds. Concerned Departments of State Government have been encouraged to take the help of NGOs/CSOs and public spirited citizens in this endevour.

The Union Health Ministry’s advisory directs states to facilitate special vaccination sessions to groups of people like beggars, nomads, and those residing in rehabilitation camps.
